Common Stereotypes In Teen Films
A stereotype is a statement about a group of people and what they are known to do. It is also a widely held image or idea of a particular
person or thing. This can be presented through behaviour,
appearance, or even beliefs. These are shown through the media in many
ways and are then reinforced to then become a belief in society.
One Stereotype of a character would be the 'fat guy' who is shown in alot of teen movies. He's normally portrayed as a big guy who doesnt care about how he looks or what others think expect for food. Also he always has food either in his hand or he would be eating or even be sourounded by food. This type of character can be found in films like Super-Bad.
'Not Another Teen Movie' is a great film which shows and points out most stereotypical characters which are often used in many teen movies. As we can see from the picture that there is the Jock, The pretty ugly girl, the werido and so on etc...
Cheerleaders are typically representedto be the nastiest girls in school and every other girl desires to be exactly like them. They also are popular and tend to have relationships with the hottest guy in school. Their mainly shown to be wearing any outfit either the colour pink or 'cute' fashionable or their cheerleading outfits.They'd normally be handling with 'pom-poms' or handbags or any beauty product.
