BLING RING ANALYSIS

BLING RING ANALYSIS

Bling Ring is a teen film inspired by real life events about teenagers living in the wealthy areas of California. The teens in the film was obsessed with wealthy goods that they saw stars wearing and they would do anything to try and get their hands on their goods.
Bling Ring  has the normal codes and conventions of a teen film which are; The outsider, the girl that isn't really intelligent, the rebel and it also has a unique character which is the feminine guy which is liked by most girl because he isn't the typical guy.

The mise en scene is also suited for teens as a lot of the movie is filmed in bedrooms, houses, cars, beaches, parties and shopping malls.
The group consists of 1 male and 4 females, this worked really well because the guy had only moved to the high school and the 4 main female characters are seen as typical female teen characters; blonde, cheerleaders, pretty, rich, bitchy and do things their own way.
The characters personality allowed them to get along with the male character as he doesn't have any friends and he would pretty much do anything to stay friends with them because they are quite popular within the high school.
The film also uses social networking sites such as  Facebook to show how teenagers feel when they post pictures of themselves wearing designer brands to show off to their friends that they are in with the latest trends and are wealthier than others.
In conclusion the movie portrays how teenagers can be influenced by peer pressure and wanting to be popular by going to to an extent. It also shows how the media can influence and change generations on how they live to try please others instead of being themselves.
