Donnie Darko Blogging Task
The opening scene of Donnie Darko consists of a High School location, this then already allows us to understand that there is going to be a lot of typical teenage things such as drugs, groups of people and the odd one person. The location of the film is used to allow the audience to understand that the attitude and environment would be sophisticated to a younger type of audience.
The Mise en scene is very affective in the opening scene of Donnie Darko as everyone around is wearing formal clothing such as school uniform and the staff are wearing suits and dresses. The students body language is exposed because everyone is doing their own thing such as the group of girls cheerleading and 2 boys taking drugs. The surroundings are a typical high school which consists books, hallways and a playground.
