Coursework Evaluation Question 5

Q5 - How did you attract/address your audience?

I believe our opening to our film attracts an audience of teenagers as you see a young black person playing basketball, you can also see urban estates which allows the audience to relate to their lifestyle. The opening shot allows us to see that the film is based in an urban area which would be most likely in London and the film is called HIDDEN so this would immediately allow the audience to think that is this character hiding from someone or something which would then engage the audience towards the film.


The opening scene also allows us to understand that the character is probably in a street basketball court, this would then allow the audience to believe that he a street person. 
You can also see that he is wearing a plan white t-shirt, this would then reflect on his lifestyle as he isn't wearing any designer clothes. 


The feedback which was given to my group from the rough cut was very helpful as we were able to introduce new props such as a gym bag, university book and newspaper. These props help strengthen my film as each prop reflects onto their personality and background. The feedback given also allowed us to look at our footage and reshoot several scenes for example the lift scene, our rough cut was really dark so the feedback allowed us to understand what was wrong. To overcome this problem we used lights to brighten up the lift scene however even with all the lights used the place was still quite dark. The lift scene was a major part of our film as the lift opens doors for each character in a very unusual way. 

To reach our targeted audience we went to cinema to view our film. To attract an audience of teenagers, cinema would be ideal as many teenagers enjoy going to the cinema to watch films. 
We also received feedback from students at the cinema which allowed us to understand what parts were good and what may of needed a little tweaking but overall the feedback was mostly positive.
Our film was posted on Vimeo, this is also an ideal way to attract an audience of teenagers as many of them go on Vimeo to watch videos.  We also posted a page on Facebook about our film, Facebook is a major part in the advertising of our film and attracting our audience as huge numbers of teenagers use Facebook so this was a very sensible way of reaching our targeted audience.
