'Outlaws' Filming Update (2)

Monday 24th February 2014

On Saturday 22nd of February we finally finished filming. We had managed to get our final shots in for Kay and Barnabas' characters and most importantly our lift scene consisting of all 3 of us. As we had filmed most of our shots we were able to complete our filming in a short amount of time. The last scenes that we filmed consisted of Barnabas' character looking at his University book, Kay's character looking for jobs and smoking and all 3 of us getting into the lift.

21 & Over

21 & Over

21 & Over is a 2013 American comedy film, it was written by and served as the directorial début of Jon Lucas and Scott Moore.

This film is about a straight A student called Jeff Chang, he is a character who always does what he is supposed to do, however when his two best friends take him out for his 21st birthday on the night before an important medical school interview. Jeff snaps and decides to risk it and do everything he wants to do. What was meant to be a quick drink turns into a night of humiliation, over indulgence and utter debauchery in this outrageous comedy about a rite of passage gone absolutely wrong. From the writers of 'The Hangover' about living youth to the fullest.

This relates to young teens as is about the normal things a young adults wants to do get drunk and have a night of fun, they can relate to this as the characters are young adults themselves who have to go through hard work just like other young adults around the world. Also any young adult can not wait to hit the age of 21 as then they are finally classed a a full time adult and are allowed to do what they want and when they want with out having others question their action.

This will attract an audience of young adults as well as normal adults as it is a transformation from a teen to finally growing up and being able to party and 'run the world' in their own vision without having any trouble of what others may say and who may try and stop them. Another attraction would be the genre of comedy to this film, it is funny and out going just like young adults who are just about to step out to the world and have a hole load of fun.

Though it strives to mimic The Hangover, 21 and Over is too predictable, too unabashedly profane, and too inconsistently funny to carry the torch.

    Ender's Game

    Ender's Game

Over the weekend I decided to watch the new film called 'Ender's Game' which was released on October 25th 2013.

It is about a hostile alien race called the Formics which have attacked Earth, to beat these aliens the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Commander of an army which they intend to build to beat the aliens. A young boy called Ender Wiggin, who is portrayed as a shy but strategically brilliant boy,who is unusually gifted and is sentto an advanced military academy in outer space to prepare for a future alien invasion. Arriving at Battle School, he quickly learns and masters increasingly challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and earning respect amongst his peers.

Ender is soon ordained by the General Commander as the military's next great hope resulting in his promotion to Command School, once he is there he is trained by the Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Ender's Game is a 2013 American film based on the military science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card, directed by Gavin Hood. The Genre to this film is Action, Adventure and Sci-Fi. This shows to be portrayed to young teens, as it is imaged as a video game, this makes it interesting as children in the 21st century are crazy about games, this is known by all the games which are played online, social networks, on iPhone's, androids and all the other gaming gadgets which are sold in shops around the world. Also there is some sort of violence in the context however it is shown to be fun and put in as a world of practice(Battle school)

Ender's Game Partnered with Audi to bring the Audi fleet shuttle quattro in to the motion pictures, they used many ways to market the film such as the partnership with ICEE included releasing two limited time flavours; Battle School Blastberry and Orbital Orange, along with a 'Train Like An Astronaut' sweepstakes. they also have may other ways they marketed it such as giving away t-shirts and offered holidays also things like private screening and photo booth backgrounds from Ender's Game.

      Editing Day 1

      Editing
The first day editing, we realised that certain shots  was better to go before shots that we had put on our story board. For these reasons, our movie may not go along with our storyboard but we are sure that the audience will get the same message we are trying to present. We also noticed that during the lift scene we didn't get enough light and we looked quiet dark so this may have to be filmed again. Another shot we forgot to put in our storyboard was Kay stepping on her cigarrette. This is another significant scene that we haver to thing about filming again or leaving it out.

During editing we also realised that certain scenes wasn't focused such as Lukas in the shop where he is looking at the money in his hand. However, becuase using the shop was a one-off we wasn't able to film this again. Lastly, certain scenes the camera was shakey as it was filmes by hand so we need to find time in our schedule to see if we can film all of these shots again and make it better. If we can't do this then we have to take it on the chin and use it as motivation to try and better our filming skills in the near future.

      Behind The Scenes-Day 1

During our process of our filming time we decided to make a couple of back stage videos about how the filming is going.

As you can see that the filming didn't go too bad and we enjoyed ourself even though it was very cold and it did start raining.

      Filming Outlaws (Day 1)

What We Have Been Doing In The Filming Process...

Saturday 8th February 2014 we met up for the first day of filming at 12:30pm at Angel. We went to our first location which was the basketball pitch for Barnabas's Character. We took loads of great shots and had lots of fun using the camera outside, we had a couple of drawbacks as the weather wasn't perfect and had backfired in the end as it started raining. However luckily we had enough time to take loads of great shots in the shop for Lukas's character.

Lukas sees he doesn't have enough money

Monday 10th February 2014 was our second day of filming at 1:25pm, we decided to use our hour and a half lesson as a chance to get more shots and work our way through our storyboard. we got loads more shots on the basketball scene also other shots which we are thinking to match cut, we had took many close ups and point of view shots which we thought we needed.

      Barnabas having shots

We are hoping to be filming on the Thursday 13th February 2014 at 9am in our three hour lesson and hopefully collect the last shots and retake any other shots, for example from the basketball scene or the shop scene or even the block scene which may need to be done again, however if this is not completed by the end of our three hour lesson, then we may need to film in the half term. So once we are back from the holidays we can get straight into editing.

As a group we have had ups and downs, such as disagreements and dislikes but that was only natural due to the stress of working on a film, making sure that is perfect. although in the end we always end up doing well and having loads of fun. So far along the process of our filming everything we have planned has gone well apart from the weather but we are able to overcome that.

Hopefully everything still goes according to planned !
